National platforms for millions of users

Role
UX/UI Designer & Team Lead
Sector
GovTech
Team
3 frontend developers
Client
Prisma Progetti SRL

The problem

Public digital services still used by millions of people — teachers check and change their school assignment through the journeys I designed — grown by accretion: inconsistent flows between systems, bureaucratic language, and no shared component library across vendors.

My role

Two roles at once: UX/UI designer on the flows and interfaces, and lead of three frontend developers across parallel projects. I set the shared design system and workflows, agreed priorities with product and engineering, and wrote the specs and technical documentation that cut friction in the design-to-development handover.

The impact

One design system adopted by teams across multiple vendors: components get reused instead of redrawn for every project, and services that used to look like different companies now read as one. In the handover with the three frontend developers, post-delivery revision rounds went from several per release to a single one. The platforms are live and used daily by the Italian education system.
